| Planned donations are a crucial source of funding that enables the Scientists Center for Animal Welfare (SCAW) to conduct and enhance our educational programs. Your donations help SCAW’s mission of “….promoting best practices in animal research and testing.” If you have donated in the past, SCAW wishes to thank you for your generosity and asks that you consider donating again this year. To all others, we ask that this year begin your commitment to donating to SCAW. Donations can range from $50 to $1,000 a year. Of course, higher donations are always welcome. SCAW is a (501)(c)(3) charity and all donations are tax-deductible, depending on federal and state laws. Donations can be made in one or more of the following ways: · Yearly Donations · Pledges (1 – 3 years) · Life Gifts ( Wills, Trust or Financial Plans) Yearly Donations These donations can be made once or twice a year in any amount depending upon your budget. Donations can be made by check payable to SCAW or by MasterCard or Visa credit card. Please call the SCAW office for more information. Pledges Pledges are for 1 to 3 years with a designated amount and per month(s) noted on the pledge card. The donation can be made by check payable to SCAW or by MasterCard or Visa credit card. Life Gifts 1. Planned Giving - programs help you enjoy tax savings through careful structuring and timing of your donation. While the actual tax benefits are determined by several factors including your tax bracket, the type of gift, etc., careful planning can provide benefits for you, the donor and SCAW. Your estate planner will be best to advise you on which method of giving is most advantageous to you. 2. Bequests - You can help assure SCAW’s future through a provision in your will, bequeathing a designated dollar amount and/or specifically described property. In cases where you have specific wishes about the disposition of your bequest, we suggest you discuss such provisions with your attorney. 3. Common Assets – Assets given to a charitable organization include stocks, bonds and mutual funds. SCAW has letters of transfer that can be used if you decide to give your gift in this form. Each gift must be evaluated individually and we will be happy to work with you. Please contact SCAW for further details. U.S. tax laws are structured to encourage charitable giving and unlimited amounts can generally be left for charitable purposes free of estate and gift taxes. You do not need a great deal of wealth to make a difference. Your estate plan represents your beliefs, your life, and a way to continue your compassion into the future. We strongly suggest that you consult with your attorney or other independent professional advisor to ensure that your plans are in compliance with all applicable laws. Donations Make the Difference We truly value the generosity of all our contributors. As this year promises to be filled with excellent opportunities for advanced training of best practices in animal research and testing, we hope you will pledge your support. So please consider SCAW as one of the worthy places for your charitable giving in 2007 and beyond. |
